Cookie Policy
What we store on your device, why, and how to change your mind at any time.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to store, so that it can recognise your device on a later page or visit. Similar technologies — local storage, for example — do the same job in a different way, and we treat them the same in this policy.
2. What we use, and what we do not
This is a small charity website. We use as little as we can get away with: what is needed to make the site work securely, plus optional analytics that only run if you say yes.
- Strictly necessary — always on. These make forms work and keep them secure, remember the cookie choice you made so we stop asking, and remember that you confirmed you are 18 or older on the raffle pages.
- Analytics — off unless you turn them on. Google Analytics 4, used to count visits and see which pages get used.
- Marketing — not currently used on this site at all. The category exists in our banner so that the choice stays yours if that ever changes.
We do not use advertising pixels, social media tracking or cross-site profiling, and we do not sell or share what analytics collects. We also do not use a third-party anti-bot service such as reCAPTCHA or Turnstile — our forms are protected by checks that run on our own server, which set no cookie of their own beyond the session identifier listed below.
3. The cookies this site sets
| Name | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
cas_consent |
Strictly necessary | Stores your cookie choices so the banner is not shown again. Set in local storage, by us. | Until you clear it or change your choice |
cas_age_ok |
Strictly necessary | Records that you confirmed you are 18 or older, so the raffle pages do not ask again on this device. Set in local storage, by us. It is not an account and it is not sent anywhere. | Until you clear it |
PHPSESSID |
Strictly necessary | Session identifier used to protect our forms against cross-site request forgery. Set by us, on the server. | Until you close the browser |
_ga |
Analytics | Distinguishes one visitor from another so visits can be counted. Set by Google Analytics — only after you consent. | Up to 2 years |
_ga_<id> |
Analytics | Keeps session state for Google Analytics 4. Set by Google Analytics — only after you consent. | Up to 2 years |
Analytics cookies appear only if you have turned analytics on. If you have not, Google's script is never even downloaded.
4. Cookies set by other sites
When you leave this site to buy a raffle ticket on Rafflebox, to buy an event ticket, or to make a donation, that platform sets its own cookies under its own policy. We have no control over them, and this policy does not cover them.
5. Changing or withdrawing your consent
You can change your choice whenever you like: . Turning analytics off stops any further analytics collection immediately. Cookies already set by Google can be removed through your browser.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Every major browser lets you do this, usually under Privacy or Site settings.
6. If you disable cookies
Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break our forms — the security check that protects them cannot work without a session, so submissions will be rejected. Blocking local storage also means the 18+ confirmation on the raffle pages is asked for on every visit, because there is nowhere to remember your answer. Blocking analytics cookies has no effect on anything you can see or do here.
7. More information
How we handle personal information generally is set out in our Privacy Policy. Questions about this policy: privacy@raffiebox.ca.
